I have spent over 30 years working on the Latin Diatessaron, and the Victor Codex, and carefully studying the Old Latin texts involved. It has become clear to me, that this Old Latin, which Victor found, is the very Latin which St. Jerome had before him when He produced the New Testament. Plooij also came to this conclusion. The Latin Diatessaron has not been 'Vulgatised', the Vulgate has been 'Diatessaronised'.
Yes the 3 wise men do seem to have been envoys from the East.
Getting 'lost' in the Temple was probably another meeting with such envoys, and
