I don't see why this is an issue. Using BC/AD is simply a long-standing historical convention, not a statement of religious faith. For comparison, scholars worldwide use the Hijra (the Prophet’s migration from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD) to divide historical periods without implying they are Muslim or believe in God. Similarly, a Christian author adopting the Hijra convention, or a non-Christian using BC/AD, is just following established academic standards. Using BC/AD doesn't mean you are endorsing Christian theology or the divinity of Jesus; it just means you are using a standard dating system that has been in practice for centuries. Honestly, CE / BCE looks more mathematical for me but i do not mind using a less mathematical convention as we use latin locutions in all type of documents. Both conventions can also be used, everyone in the field understands both.
