In the notes above, Mr. Nichols made the following claim
"Two of the nine manuscripts of Shem Tob’s text preserve the reading rm)ay (he will say). Howard employs both of the texts which read the singular in his book; Hebrew Gospel of Matthew, (p.112 Hebrew text). One is catalogued Ms.Add. no. 26964. British Library, London. The other text which reads, “he will say” is Ms. Opp. Add. 4· 72. Bodleian Library, Oxford. All other manuscripts read wrm)ay."
This is, however, incorrect. Howard employed only Ms.Add. no. 26964 as his main text for Matthew 1:1—23:22 as he clearly stated in his acknowledgments on page XI. The manuscript Ms. 2426 (Marx 16) served as the main text for Matthew 23:23 to the end of the gospel. There were three textual witnesses not listed in the footnote by Howard that evidenced the plural יאמרו versus the main text having the singular יאמר and these are the main text Ms.Add. no. 26964, Ms. Opp. Add. 4· 72, and the Ms. Mich. 137 which was noted as C in the footnotes. So, out of 9, there were three witnesses that demonstrated a singular against the plural and only the six ABDEFG that had the mural יאמרו.
