I enjoyed the challenge to my current thinking, but I am still undecided about the validity of the temple built after the exile and the temple built under Herod. Were either divinely sanctioned? Does Hebrew scripture give that impression or are the texts silent? Did the people of the second temple period consider Haggai to be God's mouthpiece, stirring them up to rebuild the temple?
