An update on Eden: Some assume if you can identify the rivers of Eden, they will lead you to that location. Hence, Professor John Day, using modern geographical knowledge, realized the source of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers is NOT the flat steppe land of Iraq (the floodplain associated with the Sumerian EDIN), it is the mountains of Armenia. Ergo, Professor Day, surmises Eden must be in mountainous Armenia. The problems? The Euphrates and Tigris never arose from one stream. They arose from numerous tributaries in Armenia's mountains. Another problem: The Mesopotamian accounts mention EDIN as being the flood plain of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, or the flat plain or flat steppe area. This, of course, flies in the face of these rivers actually flowing from a height as correctly noted by Day. Mythologists don't have to obey nature and commonsense, they can take reality and turn it upside down and on its ear. The Mesopotamian myths have the source of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to be TWO LOCATIONS, both locations being in the flood plain called EDIN. (1) MYTH NUMBER ONE has the water monster Tiamat, slain by Marduk of Babylon. From her two eyes arise the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. Tiamat's principal home, in myths, was Eridu (modern Tell Abu Sharein, south of Tell Muqqayer, believed to be Abrahm's Ur of the Chaldees by some. MYTH N UMBER TWO has Enki of Eridu, emerge from the watery depths of spring (called the ABZU), he then ejaculates and his semen fills the empty river beds of the Euphrates and Tigris which were dug with hoes by the Igigi gods. So, in Mesopotamian myth we have the source of the Tigris and Euphrates being Eridu, in the steppe-floodplain of Edin. The single source of these two rivers is Eki's penis, and its stream of water/ejaculate. Ancient Cylinder seals show Enki/Ea with two streams of water erupting from his body, assumed to be the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, by some. He is called by the Babylonians EA, translated to mean "House of Water" (E= House, A=Water/Semen). Enki/Ea's ejaculate was the one source of two of Edin's two streams that provided life-giving water for the fruit-tree gardens in EDIN's floodplain, cared for by naked man, the gardening slave, on the god's behalf. The Hebrews apparently added two more streams to the story, the Gihon of Cush (the Nile of Nubia/Kush) and the Pishon (Wadi Bishah of SW Saudi Arabia and the Yemen, for me), a mountainous area with gold mines (surveyed in 2000 by archaeologists). Remember, mythologists do not have to tell the truth, they have poetic licsence or artistic licsence to take the truth and turn it into fiction. I am not aware of anyone making these associations, as to why the Euphrates and Tigris arise from a single stream in a location called Eden. It is because the EDen story is an anti-thesis, in response to an earlier thesis, about how man came to be made in location called the EDIN, denied knowledge that it is wrong to be naked, and destroyed in a flood at a later date (the Shuruppak flood of circa 2900 BC).
