I don't think Christ demands poverty. He says you are blessed if you are poor (especially of spirit). If so why would Christ reward us financially (pressed down and overflowing)? The devil likes to play games here. You are wrong if you are rich and you are wrong if you are poor (don't worry he will make the argument make you feel guilty either way). It is more a case of being a returning Prodigal son and resting in and on God's provision.
