I am reminded of the story about children in a Sunday school class learning 23rd Psalm. The Sunday came when a select few would stand before the congregation and recite it individually. When it was time for little Timmy to take his place and give his recitation he was petrified. He stood before the crowd, not remembering what the Psalm said, but remembering what it taught him. And with a firm and confident voice, little Timmy proclaimed, "The Lord is my shepherd, and that's all I need to know!"
As a chaplain in prison ministry, I recognize that in America most jails/prisons will allow any religious organization, so called, access to the inmates. Every false religion created by man, satan and the world can and will be presented. To combat the lies, truth must be proclaimed.
But as much as I have enjoyed this very enlightening study of the last supper/Passover meal debate, on this the eve of Resurrection Sunday, I am reminded of someone I know of. A great theologian, well versed in Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, author of commentaries on Old and New Testament books, knowledgeable in the Scriptures and the history thereof. But it was only after a head-on collision with Jesus Christ the he discovered he knew a great deal about Jesus, but didn't have a personal relationship with Him. Didn't have a surrendered, repentant, confessed, forgiven and proclaimed acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior of his life and Lord of his heart. In his later years he found his calling in jail ministry, teaching men how to be the spiritual leaders of their families.
While we're busy learning Isaiah's middle name and debating the timing of the Rapture, are we proclaiming the Gospel to a lost and dying world?
