This article is certainly dated to claim: "the Dead Sea Scrolls group was a rather unimportant "monastic" sect that had no lasting influence on Judaism or on events in first-century Land of Israel."

For openers: Whoever wrote the Wikipedia entry on "Ebionites" (the "poor or needy" according to the Septuagint) seems to think that this "unimportant 'monastic' sect" was an active element in Judaism and emerging Christianity.
