This article was so interesting as well as the comments. So many new discoveries have been made supporting a global cataclysm aka a great flood. These new discoveries also provide a new timeline. Now there is no doubt that many of the stories in the bible have been barrowed, embellished, rewritten by the next people that picked them up. I must say seems to have been the longest game of telephone in recorded history. This is just my observations. I cannot say with any certainty ots true or myths and fairytales. But legends seem to always come from some truth.
Anyway, back to the global flood. Weather you get it from the bible or wherever a global flood did indeed occur. There is evidence all over the world just not in the timeline given in the bible. It ocured at the end of the last ice age. Long story short the North American content was covered in a sheet of ice about a mile thick all the way down to about where you can find Louisiana today. The evidence shows it being hit by meteors possibly something bigger who knows.
It caused a lot of water to go into the atmosphere, the rapid melting ice flowed out into the oceans causing them to rise rapidly, causing flooding and rainfall all over the planet. Graham Hancock and Randall Carlson have been studying this and the evidence is there you can't dispute that. But to acknowledge this would mean history has to be rewritten. It's pretty interesting stuff when you don't close your mind to the possibilities that are out there. Also very naive of us to ignore the possibility we have something wrong that could save lives should something like this event or worse happen again.
